L&C File - Email - Raid Server (FERver)
Introduction
L&C FERver is most suited for home and small office networks. It is used
as a central server in the network for file storage, backup and email facilities.
It is designed with RAID 1 volume, or mirror for better data protection, PDC
(Primary Domain Controller) or password protected directories, and remote access
facilities. With its ease of configuration through a graphical web interface,
compatibility with all Windows desktops, and affordability, it is no wonder
that more and more SOHOs are turning to our solution.

Features
Email Retrieval
- L&C FERver retrieves emails continuously from the Internet and stores
it in the internal mailbox.
- Emails are stored in L&C FERver for faster retrieval from individual
users.
- When laptops or workstations connected to the network retrieves email,
L&C FERver then sends the emails to each individual user.
Email Sending
- When users send emails from their individual workstations or laptops, the
emails are routed to L&C FERver.
- L&C FERver then routes these emails to the Internet for sending. Internal
emails will not be routed out to the Internet; they will be stored in L&C
FERver for retrieval.
File Sharing
- When users login to the network, they will be prompted for a password.
- Each user / department have their own allocation of drive space in L&C
FERver.
- The users can map the drives they are allowed to use, for file sharing.
Advantages
Secured file storage system
- Mirrored file system using two hard disks (2X160GB). If one hard disk fails,
the other will overtake automatically, hence ensuring the system downtime
is kept to the minimum.
- File sharing with password protected directories. The administrator can
set passwords for each department to access different directories.
- Remote access of files when out of the office, is possible through the Internet.
Fast and efficient email system
- Fast retrieval and sending of emails through auto-queuing to L&C FERver.
- Secured internal email sending as the emails will not be routed out to the
Internet.
- Ease of maintaining and finding suppliers', customers', departments', friends',
colleagues' contact information and email addresses using any email client,
through L&C FERver's Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
Adminstrator control panel
- Graphical web interface providing ease of configurations. Complex Unix-like
commands made easy through interface for administrators with no knowledge
of Unix-like commands. Provides ease of user and email account setups.
